Golf in Kamloops
Kamloops was named the hottest Canadian golf market in 2007 according to Score Magazine. Golfers may choose from over 10 courses carved out of desert, grasslands and forest during the long golf season that lasts from about May well into October. Being the Tournament Capital of Canada, it only makes sense that Kamloops' golf courses have hosted major international and Canadian PGA tournaments. Families and pitch-and-putt enthusiasts have lots of fun at the nine-hole executive McArthur Island Park golf course. Kamloops’ first golf course was built in 1914, but newer golf courses opened in 2007 attest to the area’s attractiveness as a golf destination. There are no shortage of golf packages offered by Kamloops area hotels for those who think that chasing a little white golf ball is more entertaining than trolling for Rainbow Trout with a fly-baited hook.
